Health Care Addition / Convent Renovations

Based on a need to upgrade the convent's infirmary, identified in a space utilization study, a new 40-bed health care unit was added to the facility. The new unit serves as an improved living environment for sisters who are elderly, infirm or Alzheimer's patients. The ground floor of the 3-story addition houses the convent's food service component along with large meeting areas, parking garage, storage areas and a chaplain's apartment.

New Community Living Center

As a replacement facility for their existing, oversized 1920's convent, the 130 member community chose to build a more efficient residence to suit their needs. The new building arranges clusters of varied housing around a central core area of support spaces. An infirmary wing of skilled nursing beds provides care for 20 sisters. An adjacent wing houses 8 residents in need of intermediate care / assisted living with nearby support / therapy spaces. The core area program spaces include: main dining / kitchen area, community room, meeting rooms, main chapel, administrative offices and the formal public entrance.

An extensive landscape design to a park like setting reflects the order's heritage and regard for nature.

Size: 100,000 sq. ft. / 2 story
Completed: 1999
